Offering students inside access to attend an ITS industry event

ITS Arizona and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) are excited to partner together for the second edition of the Future Leaders Program with ITS America Events at this year’s ITS America Conference & Expo, organized in partnership by RX and ITS America (ITSA), taking place April 22-25 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Through the Future Leaders Program, the next generation of ITS leaders will gather and have the opportunity to attend education sessions, trainings, meet with exhibitors, sponsors, technology providers, and network with ITS professionals that can offer career advice and mentorship.

“The ITS industry is continuously looking for smart and creative to make an impact on our transportation systems to make them more efficient and safer for future generations,” said Josh Johnson, executive director of SwRI’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Department.

The Future Leaders Program offers students the opportunity to:

  • Network with industry professionals to enhance interview skills and seek out potential job opportunities.
  • Discuss research and projects with peers and industry leaders.
  • Participate in a walking tour of the exhibit hall with an ITS America and SwRI ambassador.
  • Experience and explore innovative technologies through interactive exhibits and demonstrations.

In addition to the Future Leaders Program, the University Hub will launch at ITS America Conference & Expo, giving students and attendees alike the opportunity to engage with universities, discover diverse programs, and connect with students and faculty. Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and The University of Arizona will all be in attendance.

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to submit an ITS related abstract that will be reviewed by SwRI, ITS Arizona, and ITS America Events. Six students will be chosen to present at ITS America Conference & Expo on Wednesday, April 24. The deadline to submit is Friday, March 8, 2024.
