CALL FOR PARTICIPATION: MOBILITYXX WORKING GROUPS

 MobilityXX is committed to increasing the number of women in the transportation industry by 10% over the next 10 years. #10in10

MobilityXX, a partnership of ITS America, The Ray and WTS International Foundation, is engaging the broader transportation industry to increase the number of women from all backgrounds in the transportation workforce by 10% over the next ten years.

Why? U.S. Census data shows that from 2005 to 2019, the proportion of women in transportation occupations only increased by 3%.  As of 2019, women comprised only 15% of a 14.8 million transportation workforce, and even fewer are in decision-making roles. Access to transportation is directly linked to economic opportunity; and yet, women are at a considerable disadvantage.

The MobilityXX founders are launching working groups to help advance our goal of 10 in 10 – and we need your help.  There are several ways to become involved over the coming months.  Our near-term action plan covers 3 key areas and we are seeking volunteers of all backgrounds, and of all genders, to help in each area below:

Pledge Program Working Group | for corporate/organizational commitment to change

  • Socialize pledge within your network and serve as ambassadors to recruit companies to sign the pledge, shape peer exchanges for pledged companies & highlight successes.

Grants & Research Working Group | to support gender equity in transportation

  • Work with our researchers cohort to identify additional research needs and funding, explore additional grant opportunities & draft proposals.

Education/Outreach Working Group | to increase awareness and broader stakeholder involvement

  • Help program regular MobilityXX panels, make outreach to industry groups to become involved in initiative, amplify social media campaigns, assist with program and outreach for the Emerging Leaders Program for university students to coincide with ITSA’s 2021 Annual meeting.

Working groups will meet at least once a month, virtually, and more as needed.
