Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Traffic/Technology/ITS Intern to be based in Phoenix, AZ. This position is co-sponsored by Intelligent Transportation Society of Arizona (ITS Arizona). The position will include active participation in ITS Arizona Board Meetings and events, providing enhanced networking opportunities.
This position is expected to begin in May 2022.
Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out engineering, planning, or project management tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
- Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering and planning alternatives
- Assist in agency coordination and executing emerging technology projects. Projects may involve advanced transportation technology, connected and automated vehicle pilots, smart mobility, broadband communications, ITS devices, and other innovative solutions
- Support ITS design and planning projects, systems engineering analysis and traffic engineering tasks
- Work on a wide range of projects and tasks and assist with field research, evaluations, data collection, data analysis, calculations, graphics, maps and data presentation, and report development
- Prepare technical reports and memorandums, provide project meeting support, and perform other duties as required
- Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
- Develop presentations to internal and external customers
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
- Good communication skills and team spirit
- Work in a collaborative fast-paced team environment
- Attending ITS Arizona board meetings and events on the clock
Minimum Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree accredited program and interest in transportation engineering, transportation planning or related field
- Completion of 3rd year of qualified study by the start of this position
Preferred Qualifications
- Interest in emerging technology solutions for transportation
- Interest in traffic engineering
- Self-motivated individual with strong organizational skills
- MS Office suite and Adobe software
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation from school courses
- Experience preparing graphics and visuals
- Demonstrate excellent written, verbal, and graphical skills
